WHAT IS A VICTIM?
A victim is any person whose life has been affected by a criminal act, tragic circumstance or disaster, regardless of severity. Trauma has an impact on everyone – especially the victim.
WHAT IS DESIREE'S ANGELS?
Desiree's Angels is a non-profit organization managed by a 7 member board of directors from all walks of life including our esteemed President, Desiree's mom Susan Gerth. Together we have made it our mission to take this heart breaking tragedy and keep Desiree's legacy alive by helping others in need.
Our goal and mandate is to provide long term support for Victims of Crime and their families.
WHO DOES DESIREE'S ANGELS SUPPORT?
Desiree's Angels raises funds to support local Victims Services and Women's Shelters in each hosting city. Throughout the year, Desiree's Angels hosts various events in efforts to raise funds to support victim's, their families and spread awareness about the community resources available to those stricken by tragedy or victimization. Along with our major fundraiser "Desiree's Ride", Desiree's Angels also hosts Spaghetti Dinner's, Charity Breakfast's, BBQ's and Musical/Entertainment Events.
In 2017, Desiree's Angels was honored by being given a government grant to host an appreciation luncheon durning Victim's Crime Week in late May/early June. The luncheon was called "Empowering Resilience Luncheon", which presented appreciation awards to the community services that work hard day in and day out supporting victims and their families. Durning the luncheon, victims had an opportunity to speak about their tragedies and show their appreciation to the community services who support Victims of Crime.
